Holder for paper towels do-it-yourself: types and master class
Paper towels are firmly established in many kitchens. They are convenient to wipe off dirt on work surfaces, to remove moisture from wet hands. After cleaning, they do not need to be washed, unlike ordinary kitchen towels.
Appearance
Paper towels are of two types:
- leafy with a dispenser (used in restaurants and shopping centers);
- roll widths, may not have sleeves (applicable for home use).
The density and number of layers are the main factors that show the quality, affecting the price of the goods.
There can be three options:
- single-layer (the cheapest and thinnest version);
- two-layer (denser than the previous ones);
- three-layer (the most dense, with the highest absorption).
Color and texture solutions can be varied (from classic white, to various patterns). They can have a completely smooth surface or embossed pattern. It is not very convenient when a roll with towels lies in a drawer or is on a shelf. In such a case, a paper towel holder comes to the rescue.
You can buy the finished product in a specialized store or show imagination and make it yourself.
Wall
There are many options for how to make a dispenser on the wall.
From hangers
The simplest option is considered to be a hanger. For its implementation, you need to take the hanger, preferably plastic or metal.
Then you can act in two ways:
- unbend and put on a roll with a towel;
- cut the bottom part of the trempel in half and, slightly bending the halves, strung a roll on them.
Dressing can be done at your discretion. You can wrap the hangers with a decorative cord, braid, lace.
If these methods do not seem interesting, you can paint them with spray paint, decorate with rhinestones or even a decorative mosaic. In each case, the master tries to choose the decor to match the overall design idea.
From beads
The wall version of the paper towel holder can be made from old beads or with the help of large decorative beads strung on a string or elastic. To do this, you need to pass the beads through the roll sleeve and fix them on the wall. This option looks stylish and modern.
Of belts
Another option for a wall-mounted towel holder can be made with leather straps.
To do this, you need the following items:
- awl;
- leather straps in the amount of two pieces;
- rod made of wood;
- metal rivets and accessories.
First you need to make 5 holes in each strap. To do this, each of them must be folded in half and made 2 through punctures at a distance of 5 and 18 cm from the edge. In one half it is necessary to make an additional hole at a distance of 7.5 cm from the end of the strap. Then you need to install the rivet in the aligned holes that were made at a distance of 18 cm.
It is necessary to mount on the wall. For this purpose, you can use a screw or suction cup, which should be installed in the holes made at a distance of 7, 5 cm from the edge. They must be attached in a strictly horizontal line at a distance of 45 cm from each other. After that you should use the latest rivets for holes 5 cm from the edge.The last step is to thread the wooden rod into the roll sleeve, thread its ends through the loops in the straps.
Suspension
With the help of scraps of copper pipes, you can make the kitchen more convenient, as well as save space.
You will need:
- copper fittings (tube, 2 corners and cap);
- metal circle for mounting with a hole in the center equal to the diameter of the pipe and 4 screw holes;
- Super glue.
First you need to measure the tube 2 cm long more than the length of the roll and another one about 10 cm long. The second segment is necessary for mounting under the kitchen cabinet. Do not make it too long so that the towels do not hang too low. We must not forget that the installation will add a couple of centimeters.
Next, you need to fasten the tube together with a corner and superglue, which should be applied to the inner side of the corner. Then to the other end of the long tube, you must attach the second corner and cap. Do not forget that the cap with a corner should be located parallel to the short tube.
The third step is to fix the short tube in a metal circle. The last step should be to attach the entire structure under the kitchen cabinet with screws, velcro or suction cups. Next you can put on a roll with a towel.
This option does not require a lot of effort, and the way of assembly is somewhat similar to the designer. He is able to give the kitchen some flavor.
Desktop
This option will appeal to lovers of eco-style.
You will need:
- newspaper rolls;
- hot glue or PVA;
- cardboard;
- elastic.
They take 12 tubes and approximately in the middle drag them with a clerk's gum. The tubules on one side must be turned perpendicularly. The resulting base can be put on the table on curved tubes. Next, you need to weave 6 rows of "rope". Then another 5 rows, each time adding one stick. This will be the basis. Workers need to trim and glue.
The rod also needs to be braided. To do this, remove the gum, smeared with glue and braid the second half of the sticks. On this basis is considered complete.
From cardboard you need to cut three circles with a diameter of woven base.
Next you need to weave another bottom, for the base of which you will need 24 tubes, arranged in a circle. In this way you need to weave 13 rows. After the main tubules need to be fixed between each other and put perpendicular to the woven bottom.They take 3 tubes and twist the bottom of them with a string, like a basket.
Zateem need to glue the cardboard circles with the resulting basket. To do this, use PVA glue. Weave another 3 rows with a string and fasten the first part. Then on 13 small stands you can weave a half-tender. To do this, each row, starting from the right, should be made shorter than the previous one, removing one of the small stands from the base (and so on).
The last stage should be cut all the extra parts, securing them with a "string". The finished product should be abundantly grease with white glue.
