Knauf "Rotband" - plaster mixture based on polymers. It appeared on the Russian market in 1993, but had been widely used in European countries for about 30 years.

As a building material, this plaster mix is ​​universal. For the most part, it is used for leveling surfaces made of concrete, cement and stone. Can be an assistant when working with drywall. “Rotband” is a polymer based plaster mix. Due to their content, a sufficiently high adhesion of the plaster with other materials is achieved. The composition also includes some natural additives, due to which its color changes.

The mixture "Rotband" is made on the basis of gypsum, therefore it is used when working with walls and ceilings indoors. It is resistant to wet environments, therefore it can be used in such rooms as bathroom, basement and others. For outdoor work it is necessary to use materials based on cement.

There are a lot of coatings with which this product is combined. This, for example, concrete, brick, stone, aerated concrete, cement, drywall and others.

When preparing a plaster mix, it is necessary to take into account that it dries quickly, so it is worth to mix the amount that can be used during this period of time. For complete drying should be allocated about 2 days.

When using the mixture, the temperature in the area of ​​work should not fall below +5 degrees. Contact with direct sunlight is recommended to exclude. You also need to check the absence of drafts and not to air the room a day after.

The consistency should be uniform and without lumps. After this mixture should be allowed to stand for about 5 minutes. If necessary, you can add more water.

As soon as the plaster becomes matte, it smooths down with a spatula. If relief or drawing is necessary, the uncured coating is treated with a roller or a brush with a hard pile.

Gypsum is a flexible and quite soft material, which is convenient to work with. The undoubted advantage is that the surface treated with a mixture of Knauf "Rotband", is not required to putty. It is resistant to cracking, quite economical to use, able to regulate moisture in the room, environmentally friendly and safe.

When applied correctly, the composition does not give detachment and does not crumble.The wall is smooth and smooth.

This mixture has some drawbacks. It is not as strong as cement, has no anti-corrosion effect - metal fasteners rust over time. In addition, Knauf "Rotband" is not among the cheap building materials. However, the high quality of this composition and its positive characteristics more than compensate for these shortcomings.
