Recommended for internal use. When the exterior can be used to insulate homes and cottages and protect them from aggressive climatic conditions.
Performs three basic functions.

- Protective. Maintains the required temperature inside the building and protects against excessive moisture.
- Decorative. Helps create aesthetic forms.
Composition
“Rotband” is a polymer based plaster mix. Due to their content, a sufficiently high adhesion of the plaster with other materials is achieved. The composition also includes some natural additives, due to which its color changes.
The main colors of Rotband plaster are gray, white and pink. It should be noted that the quality of the composition does not depend on its color.
An important point during the work with this material is its shrinkage after drying, which is typical for all gypsum compounds. Therefore, during the application it is worth making a small margin.
The mixture is packaged in packs of 5, 10 and 30 kilograms, which is very convenient for the consumer.
Kinds
Plaster mixtures differ in different parameters, one of them - the method of application.
Among them are:
- mixtures for manual use;
- mixtures for machine use.
Most Knauf blends are oriented for manual use. The most famous product is Knauf "Rotband".
This mixture is universal, combined with almost any kind of surface. It can be used for walls and ceilings. It has excellent moisture resistance, which makes it relevant to use in bathrooms. It is recommended to use “Rotband” plaster exclusively for interior decoration.
Besides it, Knauf "Goldband" for interior and hard surfaces are popular, the starting plaster mixture for leveling the coating "HP Start", the plaster-glue mixture Knauf "Sevener" for both interior and exterior finishing, Knauf "Ubo "Presented as a mixture of" Boden "10, 25 and 30 for cement floor screed.
Under the brand Knauf, special plaster М75 is made, which, unlike “Rotband”, is designed for machine use.
The main difference of machine plaster is the speed of application and economy of the composition.
The layer is usually applied with a thickness of no more than 20 millimeters. Mixtures of this type can be used manually, but at the expense of a more liquid consistency of the material, this is not very convenient. Compositions that are applied by hand is strictly prohibited to use when working with a special machine.
Manual plaster is applied in a thicker layer - up to 50 millimeters. This mixture is thicker, which does not allow to use it in combination with the machine, as it clogs the channels and other elements of the device, which can break from it.
Knauf’s product range includes putty materials. They are used before finishing the surface. Putty Knauf "Rotband" is universal, it consists of plaster and natural materials. It is used in rooms with high humidity.
Masonry mixes, screeds, adhesives of the company Knauf have long gained popularity and are widely used in construction and repair work.
Colors
Before buying a plaster mixture, you need to choose the shade that you need. Information about the color of the composition is not always indicated on the label, but it can be calculated from the data on the manufacturer. Gray blends are available in Krasnogorsk, pink blends in Kolpino and Chelyabinsk, and whites in the Astrakhan region and the Krasnodar Territory.
It must be remembered that the color of the properties of the finished mixture.
White and gray plaster “Rotband”, unlike pink, can flow over the surface. This is due to the larger grain of the pink composition. If you do not plan to use putty before sticking on the wallpaper, it is advisable to level the walls with a white or gray mixture.
Layer thickness
Layers of plaster should be applied with a thickness of at least 5 millimeters. The optimal size is 10 millimeters, which can increase if necessary. When finishing the walls, the maximum layer thickness is 50 millimeters, while finishing the ceilings it is 15 millimeters.
If an increase in the thickness of the plaster layer is required, the second layer is applied after the first is dried and primed. Rotband plaster mixes have good adhesion to bricks, concrete, wood and plasterboard.

Where does it apply?
The mixture "Rotband" is made on the basis of gypsum, therefore it is used when working with walls and ceilings indoors. It is resistant to wet environments, therefore it can be used in such rooms as bathroom, basement and others. For outdoor work it is necessary to use materials based on cement.
There are a lot of coatings with which this product is combined. This, for example, concrete, brick, stone, aerated concrete, cement, drywall and others.
Preparation and work
When preparing a plaster mix, it is necessary to take into account that it dries quickly, so it is worth to mix the amount that can be used during this period of time. For complete drying should be allocated about 2 days.
When using the mixture, the temperature in the area of work should not fall below +5 degrees. Contact with direct sunlight is recommended to exclude. You also need to check the absence of drafts and not to air the room a day after.
The mixture should gradually fall into cold water. For mixing, it is advisable to use a plaster mixer.
The consistency should be uniform and without lumps. After this mixture should be allowed to stand for about 5 minutes. If necessary, you can add more water.
Next, the solution is applied to the surface with a layer from 5 to 10 millimeters thick, from top to bottom. After an hour when the composition hardens, it must be leveled using a metal spatula until a smooth coating is formed. 15 minutes after this, the treated surface should be sprinkled with water a little and rubbed with a float, removing defects. As soon as the plaster becomes matte, it smooths down with a spatula. If relief or drawing is necessary, the uncured coating is treated with a roller or a brush with a hard pile.
Advantages and disadvantages
Gypsum is a flexible and quite soft material, which is convenient to work with. The undoubted advantage is that the surface treated with a mixture of Knauf "Rotband", is not required to putty. It is resistant to cracking, quite economical to use, able to regulate moisture in the room, environmentally friendly and safe.
When applied correctly, the composition does not give detachment and does not crumble. The wall is smooth and smooth.
This mixture has some drawbacks. It is not as strong as cement, has no anti-corrosion effect - metal fasteners rust over time. In addition, Knauf "Rotband" is not among the cheap building materials. However, the high quality of this composition and its positive characteristics more than compensate for these shortcomings.
The main thing is to purchase exactly the mixture that is necessary for a certain type of work, to ensure the integrity of the package and that the material is not overdue and of high quality.
