The product is a multilayer system, the basic elements of which are:

• a waterproof layer of bitumen or rubber with a sticky adhesive mass, which is responsible for fixing the product with a sealed base;

• special film that is removed before using the tape.

Such a composition makes it possible to perform durable sealing of any design made from any raw material. Based on the scope of application, the basic composition of the material is sometimes supplemented with layers of other components (for example, to increase the protective or insulating properties).

Depending on the use of the tape are:

• bilateral;
• one-sided.

The first option assumes the presence of a working surface on both sides of the product, in contrast to the last type.

Also presented is a range of sealing tapes divided into two main types.

• Products for working with window openings. They are tape products made of polypropylene with an adhesive base, due to which adhesion to the surface of windows and slopes occurs. Products are recommended for moisture protection designs. Their use eliminates the need to purchase and use plaster and sealant. A variety of products for window openings is vapor-permeable tape, similar in appearance to foam rubber. Its feature is the ability to pass the condensate formed in the structure of the foam. Products can be used at low temperatures.

• Universal tape. It is produced from a special bitumen, on which an aluminum layer and a reinforced polyethylene film are applied.

Subspecies of this product are several product variants:

• Plaster. Its distinctive feature is the structure of the adhesive layer. It allows you to instantly glue the surface together. Due to good adhesion, the material is suitable for concrete, glass, natural stone, plastic and ceramics. Instead of searching for the tape of the desired color, the material can be easily dyed to the desired shade.The range of finished goods of this type includes four color options.

• Ecobit In this case, a film of copper or aluminum is applied on the base layer, which is protected by polyester. The material forms a high-quality waterproof coating on products made of glass, metal, cement. Due to this, products are often used to repair roofing, pipes, plumbing and sewage.
• Titanium. It features a polyurethane coating applied to an anti-condensate polyester base. Such a composition increases wind protection and softens the effect of temperature differences.

• Masterflex. This material has a specific edge composition that favorably affects the level of sealing. Products are widely used to work with PVC structures, various metal surfaces, concrete bases. Such products are advised to additionally fix with nails or stick with two layers overlap.
• Comfort. The composition of this material has a special membrane that can absorb moisture, and then, due to diffusion, remove it. The main component of the product is a special raw material, which is made of polyester fibers coated with polyurethane. The operational period of production is about 10 years.

Also often on sale are butyl-rubber tapes that perfectly protect from steam and moisture. Most of them have a double-sided surface for fixation.

Self-adhesive tape is most often in demand in several areas of activity:

• In construction and public utilities - processing of joints between panels of structures, tightness of window and balcony blocks, erection and repair of hard roofing, as well as fixation of roll roofing products, installation of sewer and water pipelines, sanitary ware, installation of ventilation equipment, thermal insulation of the pipeline.

• In transport engineering - work with the cabin of cargo and passenger transport and repair of ships, sealing the interior of special equipment and cars in order to reduce vibration.
• In the oil and gas direction - providing protection against corrosion of seams of the pipeline, repair of insulation.
• Domestic use - carrying out various repairs in apartments or private houses (including work related to clothes and sanitary ware in bathrooms and sanitary facilities).

Manufacturers of sealing tapes are a number of domestic and foreign companies. Most of the products have a fairly high level of quality, due to which its popularity among consumers is only growing.

The issue of sealing joints remains the most relevant when it comes to waterproofing devices. Nicoband tapes are available for work in this area. In fact, the products are scotch tape with a set of specific positive features. Among them we can distinguish a thick bitumen layer, which not only seals, but also seals the seams. Products are distinguished by durability and elasticity, adhesion to all materials, as well as resistance to ultraviolet radiation.

This product group is represented by three brands: Nicoband, Nicoband Duo, Nicoband Inside. The color range of products includes a variety of shades that allow you to combine products with roofing, including folding roof. Nicoband products are recommended for repair and construction inside and outside buildings. It can be used for sealing joints of various materials, including metal, stone and wood, roofing, sealing pipes and structures made of polycarbonate, metal tiles, ceramic tiles, sealing ventilation.

Elastic tape "Vikar" LT is a self-adhesive non-curable products, amenable to laying and in length and width due to the presence of foil in the composition. The product is an excellent helper in the work with the roof, where it is additionally used to create strength in the weak spots of the roof waterproofing, in particular in the area of ​​the ends and skates, in the places where the chimneys are taken out and ventilation. You can work with the tape in the temperature range from -60 to +140 C.

"Fum" tape is most often used for piping homes. It provides sealing threads when the device gas supply or water supply. Products may be white or transparent. Such products are more often sold in coils. Products are presented in three types, which are recommended for different applications based on the technical conditions of future work.

"Ekobit" from the Italian company Isoltema is another product used for work with the roof. Production provides tightness in places of an exit of a flue, ventilation and in the field of arrangement of mansard window designs. In the composition of the tape there is a special kind of bitumen with polymers of special strength. Copper or aluminum coating is applied to the surface of the product.

It is convenient to work with tape, carrying out protection and sealing around the roofing elements of a rounded shape. Products are absolutely safe and do not contain harmful substances. Application technology does not require compliance with the temperature regime. In addition to work with the roof, the tape is widely used for tiles made of cement, structures made of plastic or glass.

The tape for sealing the SCT 20 is performed in black with a self-grabbing mastic. It has excellent resistance to ozone and ultraviolet radiation. The product is recommended for repair work in places of damage to the insulation CIP.

"Outline" - quality sealant in the form of tapes of various colors. Such products on both sides have an anti-adhesive layer. They are used to connect parts made of brick, wood, metal and concrete. Ceresit CL - a tape for ensuring sealing of seams when carrying out construction of various designs. Products are characterized by elasticity and resistance to deformation.The specific features of the material require work with the tape at a temperature of from +5 to +30 C.

The use of sealing tape in work requires compliance with some recommendations regarding installation:

• First of all, you need to carry out a preliminary preparation of the working surface.
• You should make sure that there are no grease or oil stains, residues of old paint and various dirt on it.
• Then the coating, which borders the seam, must be treated with a waterproofing compound with a small spade (two or three centimeters).
• The tape is cut off from the roll and placed on the layer, which must be still wet.
• The resulting coating must be “drowned” into the base with a spatula so that all the air escapes.
• The deformation joints are sealed with tape, laid in the form of a loop.
• The joints of materials at the corners are stacked with a small spade on each other.
