So, the casing is a plank made of various materials, which is installed around the perimeter of windows, doors,as well as other structurally expressed parts of the house for the purpose of decoration, protection of gaps between fragments of building construction elements, as well as for performing other functions.

Judging by the large number of platbands, which can be seen on the buildings (they are all different in design, material, configuration), they are represented in considerable variety. Let us see what are the modern types of platbands, and how they differ from each other.

First of all, platbands are divided into categories depending on the material used in their creation.

• First you need to name the tree. This is a traditional material, it is good in painting and other processing, it perfectly keeps the temperature regime in our climate. For a tree there is a large number of various impregnations, varnishes, enamels and paints, so there will be no problems with the final design of the casings.

• Composite materials include MDF (medium density fibreboard, in fact, it is compressed wood chips) and plywood well known to us (in fact, also wood material, only characterized by multi-layering - made by gluing specially treated veneer). To the same category can be attributed veneered and laminated trim.
• In the building materials market there is also a plastic casing made of extruded polyvinyl chloride (PVC) or other materials (expanded polystyrene, polyurethane). Its biggest plus is affordability. Also among the advantages can be called a huge selection of textures and colors.
• Metallic platbands are made of steel or aluminum.

There are also platbands from other materials - stone, ceramic tile, gypsum cement. It is not recommended to install them yourself. For example, larch is considered the least prone to rotting, and oak is the most durable type of this material. But at the same time, these species also have disadvantages: larch is too fragile for carvings, and the oak, because of its hardness, makes the process extremely time-consuming. • Next is the cut. After fixing the part with the aid of the miter box, the bar is cut (you can do this with a hacksaw on metal with sparse teeth, use a jigsaw or even a tortsovochny machine). Make sure the edge is perfectly flat.

• As a rule, the first side rail is installed first, then the top one, and then the second side jamb. In no case, the slats initially do not set tight - screws or nails are fixed half. This is done so that the trim of the trim can be perfectly adjusted to each other. If you are using liquid glue, try to choose one so that it does not clutch instantly.
• Once you have completed the fit, you can proceed to the final stage.It is necessary to nail the fastening studs tightly, while trying to locate them at the same distance from each other. As soon as you have fixed the casing, be sure to check the smooth opening and closing of the valves. Knowledgeable people are advised to begin installation with the largest opening in size: if you made a mistake the first time, the material can be used on a smaller opening.

Some useful tips.

• For a beginner master, it will be helpful to practice on an unnecessary piece of material before starting work. And if you made mistakes in the design of the joints, you can apply specialized sealants (they are wax and acrylic), selecting the desired shade. Apply masking tape on both sides of the joint and gently cover the gaps.
• Installation of window frames in a wooden house is preceded by a period of preparation. First, all necessary measurements are taken from the window. It is important to choose the width of the casing. It should completely cover the contour of the window frame. Secondly, prior to installation, wood or other material is processed that is used for the casings.
