Choosing a narrow sofa

The most interesting communication, as a rule, occurs not at a big festive table in the living room, but in a cozy atmosphere in the kitchen over a cup of tea, and in this case the hard stools and chairs definitely lose to the soft comfortable sofa. Given the small size of the room, narrow models of sofas fit harmoniously into the interior of the kitchen, creating a comfortable atmosphere for a pleasant conversation. • Folding models have an extra bed for contingencies;
• A variety of styles and colors allows you to choose a sofa in tune to any interior and to the most demanding taste.

Among the minor inconveniences of a narrow sofa are:

• the need to fold and assemble daily in case it is used as a bed;
• surface disassembled may be uneven, causing slight discomfort;
• straight sofas occupy all the space along the wall, limiting movement in the room.

When buying a narrow sofa, one should proceed from several selection criteria, since the models differ in shape, mechanism of action, and assembly options.

Forms of sofas:

• semicircular. More popular in large room formats, where there is no need to lay out the sofa. Non-standard design attracts the eye, but requires a rigorous approach to the choice for a harmonious combination with the main interior

Folding narrow sofas have three main ways to turn a sofa into a berth:

1. The mechanism "dolphin" is that the seat is pulled over like a drawer of a dresser;
2. The sofa "accordion" is stretched like the bellows of the musical instrument of the same name, forming a berth on stable supports;
3. The “book” model lays out the seat of a sofa consisting of two halves and fixes it with a special mechanism;
4. “Eurobook” pull like a model “dolphin”, but the back falls to the vacated seat.

The sofa should not fall out of the overall picture of the interior either in form or in color, so you should combine its color scheme with walls, curtains, pieces of furniture, and also take into account its location. For example:

• the formal setting (office, living room) corresponds to a blue or red shade;
• in the Gothic style it will be better to look gray, black or white furniture;
• warm green or brown tones will accentuate the country style;
• the pastel shades of the sofa will be irresistible in any interior.

To emphasize the advantages and hide the disadvantages of the room, you can "play" with the color and favorable placement of the sofa:

• the feeling of spaciousness can be achieved if you pick up a sofa with upholstery to match the walls and install it from the narrow side;
• a sofa with bright colors by the window and curtains matched to the tone will visually enlarge the room and give an elongated layout a more square shape;
• the pastel colors of the room will not look pale and lifeless if you place the sofa with bright upholstery.

Modern technologies allow you to choose the appropriate material of the sofa, depending on where it will be located, for which the buyer’s financial capabilities are used.

For kitchens, fabric upholstery is rarely used because of the increased risk of contamination and short service life, therefore the ideal coating is considered to be:

• Artificial leather (imitation leather) - durable, easy to clean, has a wide selection of colors for any interior, but quickly loses its appearance;
• Genuine Leather - ideal for use, but not designed for the average consumer;
• Flock it is steady against frequent washing and will please with a palette of tones and shades.

For sofas in the living room or nursery use:

• Velours - soft and pleasant to the touch material with a velvety surface, which gives rich decoration;

• synthetic winterizer (often for the back of the sofa) - moisture-proof, resilient, it gives relief and softness, having heat-insulating properties;
• dyurafil –A soft, fluffy, highly elastic canvas, similar to a spring block, which prevents the backrest and the seat of the sofa from deforming after being pressed by the whole load;
• springs "snake" or independent springs. The second option is preferable due to the placement of the spirals in separate textile covers, which ensures the stability of the supporting base and a flat surface for a long time;
• Bonnell spring block - a framework from springs of continuous weaving, providing an orthopedic effect and an increased degree of comfort during rest.

Approach to the choice of a narrow sofa should be, after weighing and carefully considering several aspects:

• Dimensions of the room. If the sofa is purchased for the kitchen, it must be borne in mind that the dinette should occupy a smaller area than the working area and the sofa should be both comfortable and practical.
• Number of seats. Do not forget to take into account not only the owners of the house, but also guests, who often gather at the same table and need comfortable accommodation.
• Cost of. Choose a good value for money even with a limited budget, because you choose furniture for a long time.Do not overlook the reliability of the design, the quality of the external and internal materials and the mechanism, convenient in a particular room.
• The combination of color and style. All pieces of furniture and room furnishings should be designed in the same style and be combined in color.
